How to practise
Sit comfortably with your back straight, or lie down. Close your eyes or keep a soft gaze. Breathe through the nose, follow the circle — it grows as you breathe in and shrinks as you breathe out — and let thoughts pass without following them.
Start with 3–5 minutes a day. Morning and before sleep are good times. If you feel dizzy or uncomfortable, stop and breathe normally; people with heart or lung conditions should check with a doctor before breath-holding exercises.
Mantra meditation
You can also meditate by chanting a mantra slowly, such as Om or Om Namah Shivaya. See the mantra collection.
