What is a Panchang?
The Panchang is the Hindu almanac. Its five limbs (panch anga) are tithi (lunar day), vaar (weekday), nakshatra (the Moon's star), yoga (the combined motion of Sun and Moon) and karana (half of a tithi). It is used to choose auspicious times for festivals, fasts and important work.
All values here are calculated for the selected city from the positions of the Sun and Moon, using the Lahiri ayanamsa. The tithi that prevails at sunrise is taken as the tithi of the day.
